Power Smile Dental
Insurance & Payment

All insurances welcome — and yes, we welcome the CDCP

Power Smile Dental Centre serves South Surrey & White Rock with direct billing, all major plans, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Some offices don't take the CDCP. We're glad to.

Coverage shouldn't be the reason you put off looking after your smile. We accept all insurances, direct bill on your behalf, and take part in the Canadian Dental Care Plan and government programs — so more families across South Surrey and White Rock can get the care they need.

Bring your plan details to your visit. We'll check your coverage, explain what's included, and walk you through any out-of-pocket portion before we begin. No fine print, and nothing you didn't see coming.

What is the CDCP?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program. It helps cover the cost of dental care for eligible Canadian residents who don't have access to private dental insurance. Sun Life runs it on behalf of the Government of Canada, and it's meant to make routine and necessary care more affordable — for families, seniors, children and adults alike.

We think the CDCP is a good thing for our community, which is why we welcome it when some offices in the area don't. If you've been approved, bring your member card and we'll take it from there.

  • Eligibility tied to family income and a filed tax return
  • Covers a share of eligible preventive and necessary care based on CDCP-established fees
Welcoming front desk and billing help

Do you accept my insurance?

In almost every case, yes. We work with all major Canadian dental insurance providers and send in claims on your behalf, so you don't have to chase paperwork. Whether your coverage comes through an employer, a spouse's plan, a personal policy or a government program, we'll check the details and tell you what's covered before we begin.

Most private plans cover a percentage of each procedure rather than the full amount, so there is usually a co-payment — the part your plan doesn't cover.

If you're not sure what plan you have or what it includes, just bring whatever you've got to your appointment — or call ahead — and our front desk will sort it out with you.

Direct billing, sorted for you

Direct billing & how payment works

We keep payment simple and clear. Here's how a typical visit works when you have coverage:

We check your coverage

Before any treatment, we look at what your plan includes so you know your portion ahead of time.

We direct bill your plan

We send the claim straight to your insurer or the CDCP, so you usually only pay your share at the visit.

You see clear pricing

We bill the BC fee guide and explain any copay up front — honest pricing, and nothing you didn't see coming.

Clear, honest pricing conversation

Understanding your co-pay

Whether you have the CDCP or private insurance, your co-pay is simply the portion of the cost your plan doesn't cover. We'll always show you the exact numbers before any treatment begins.

We follow the British Columbia Dental Association Fee Guide, which means our fees are based on the standard published rates for our province. Before any treatment begins, we'll explain the costs, review your insurance coverage, and let you know about any out-of-pocket expenses. If cost is a concern, we'll help you prioritize treatment in a way that fits your needs and budget.

Care that's reachable for every family

Government plans & low-income support

Good dental care shouldn't depend on your income, and we mean that. Alongside the CDCP, we welcome provincial and government assistance programs, and we work hard to make care reachable for families who need a little extra help.

If you're sorting through coverage for the first time, or feeling unsure about cost, please reach out. A short conversation with our front desk can clear up a lot. Whatever your questions, we're here to help—without pressure or judgment.

Insurance & CDCP questions

Does Power Smile Dental accept the CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan)?+

Yes. We are proud to accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan and welcome CDCP patients from South Surrey, White Rock and nearby communities.

How do I know if I'm eligible for the CDCP?+

The CDCP is a federal plan. A few things decide if you qualify: your adjusted family net income (less than $90,000 a year), being a Canadian resident for tax purposes, having filed your most recent tax return, and not having access to private dental insurance. You apply through the Government of Canada online or by calling Service Canada toll-free at 1-833-537-4342. Once you're approved, Sun Life sends your coverage details. If you're not sure where you stand, call us at (604) 541-9790 and we'll help you find your way.

Do you offer direct billing to my insurance?+

Yes. We direct bill most major insurance providers. In most cases you only pay your portion at the visit, and we send the claim in for you. Bring your insurance details to your appointment and we'll check your coverage before any treatment, so you know what to expect ahead of time.

What is a copay, and why do I have one?+

A CDCP co-payment is the percentage of the CDCP-established fee that you're responsible for, based on your adjusted family net income. Some patients have no co-payment, while others pay a percentage.

You may still have an additional amount to pay because the CDCP-established fees may differ from the BCDA Fee Guide, or if you choose a service that isn't covered by the plan. We'll explain any expected out-of-pocket costs before your care begins.

Do you take government and low-income dental plans?+

Yes. Alongside the CDCP, we welcome government and assistance programs such as provincial income-assistance dental coverage and Healthy Kids. If you're sorting through your coverage, or cost is on your mind, talk to our front desk. We'll help you understand your options before any treatment begins, and there's no judgement here.

What if I don't have any insurance at all?+

You're still welcome here. We follow the BCDA Fee Guide, talk through costs with you up front, and help you plan care in a way that fits your budget. Looking after your teeth now, with regular preventive visits, often helps you avoid larger, costlier treatment down the road.

Ready when you are.
