A Custom Crown in a Single Visit

A crown is like a custom-made protective cap for a tooth that needs extra protection. With our CEREC same-day technology, we design, make, and place your new crown right here — no messy impressions, no temporary crown, and no second trip back from White Rock or Morgan Creek. You walk out with a strong, natural-looking crown the same day.

How same-day crowns work

After gently preparing the tooth, we take a digital scan of your mouth. Using CEREC software, we design your crown to match your bite and blend naturally with the teeth beside it. A small machine in the office then shapes the crown from a ceramic block while you relax.

Once it is polished and checked for fit, we bond it in place. The whole thing happens in one appointment, usually within a couple of hours, so you leave with your final crown already in your mouth.

When you might need a crown

If a tooth is cracked, badly decayed, or weakened by a large old filling, a filling alone may not be enough. A crown covers and protects the tooth, helping restore its strength so you can eat, talk, and smile with confidence.

  • A tooth with a large crack
  • A tooth weakened by a large old filling
  • A tooth after a root canal
  • A worn-down tooth from grinding
  • To complete a dental implant

Strong, lasting results

Today's ceramic crowns are strong and look remarkably natural. With good home care and regular checkups, a well-made crown can last many years. Because we handle the whole process here, we can fine-tune the fit and shade before bonding it in place, creating a result that looks and feels natural.

Why Patients Choose Same-Day Crowns

One appointment, done

Skip the two-week wait and the temporary crown. Your permanent crown is designed, made, and placed in a single visit.

Digital scan, no goopy impressions

A digital scan replaces the uncomfortable impression tray and helps us design a crown that fits comfortably and matches your bite.

Natural-looking ceramic

Crowns are made from tooth-coloured ceramic and carefully matched to blend in with the teeth around them.

Easy on a busy life

Fewer visits means less time off work and less time travelling to the dental office — handy for families and busy schedules.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a crown cost in BC?+

Crown treatment follows the BC Dental Association Fee Guide, but every tooth is different, so we don't believe it's fair to advertise one price for every situation.

Some teeth are ready for a crown immediately, while others first need decay removed, the tooth rebuilt, or root canal treatment before a crown can provide a healthy, long-lasting result.

During your visit, we'll examine your tooth, take any necessary digital X-rays, explain our recommendations, and provide a written treatment plan and estimate before you decide whether to proceed. If an examination fee applies, we'll let you know before your appointment.

You'll never be asked to agree to treatment without first understanding what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what it will cost. We'll help you understand your insurance or CDCP coverage, explain payment options if they're available, and make sure you understand every cost before treatment begins.

Still have questions? We'd be happy to explain what we find, answer your questions, and help you make a confident decision about your treatment.

Is a same-day crown as good as a lab-made one?+

Yes. CEREC ceramic crowns are strong, precise, and natural-looking. For many teeth, they are an excellent option and offer the added convenience of avoiding a temporary crown and a second visit. If we believe a lab-made crown is the better choice for your situation, we will explain why and recommend it instead.

Does getting a crown hurt?+

We numb the tooth well, so you should be comfortable during the appointment. Afterward, a little sensitivity for a day or two is normal and usually settles quickly.

How long does the appointment take?+

Plan for about two to three hours from start to finish. Preparing the tooth, scanning, designing, making, and bonding your crown all happen during the same visit, so in most cases you won't need to come back for a second appointment.

How long will my crown last?+

The lifespan of a crown depends partly on the material it is made from. Ceramic crowns, like the ones used for our same-day CEREC crowns, often last well over a decade with good brushing and flossing, regular checkups, and proper care. Avoiding habits like chewing ice and wearing a nightguard if you grind your teeth can help your crown last even longer. Without good home care and regular dental visits, crowns are more likely to need repair or replacement sooner.
