Discreet, Tooth-Coloured Fillings That Blend Right In
When a cavity needs fixing, we use natural-looking, tooth-coloured fillings that bring back your tooth's strength without the dark metal of the past. The result blends right in with your smile, and the visit is also a good moment to figure out, together, how to prevent the next one.
How fillings work
A filling repairs a tooth that has been weakened by decay. We gently clear away the decayed part, clean the space, and fill it with tooth-coloured composite that bonds to the tooth and is shaped and polished to match. You leave with a tooth that is restored, sealed, and natural-looking.
Most fillings are quick and comfortable. Depending on the size and location of the cavity, Dr. Hassan may be able to repair some small cavities without freezing for patients who are comfortable with that approach. If local anesthetic is recommended—or if you prefer it—she'll make sure you're comfortable before treatment begins.
Signs you might need a filling
Cavities often start quietly, with no symptoms at all, which is exactly why regular checkups catch them early. But a few signs are worth a visit sooner.
- Sensitivity to sweet, hot, or cold foods
- A hole, pit, or dark spot you can see on a tooth
- Food that keeps catching in one spot
- A rough or chipped edge you feel with your tongue
- A mild ache when you bite down
Stopping the next cavity
We do not just fill the tooth and move on. We want to understand why the cavity formed in the first place. Diet, a dry mouth, brushing technique, and even snacking patterns all play a part. A little guidance now can save you fillings later, and that is exactly the prevention-first approach Dr. Hassan believes in.
Why patients choose Power Smile
Prevention built in
Every filling visit is a chance to find out why the cavity formed and help you avoid the next one.
Gentle, conservative care
We remove only the decay that needs to go, keeping as much of your healthy (natural) tooth as we can.
Natural appearance
Tooth-coloured composite blends with your enamel, so a repair is hard to spot, even on a front tooth.

We use modern, mercury-free composite fillings that bond directly to your tooth for a strong, natural-looking repair.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a filling cost in BC?+
Filling fees follow the BC Dental Association Fee Guide, and the exact cost depends on the size of the filling and which tooth needs treatment. Most insurance plans and the CDCP cover fillings. Before we begin, we'll examine the tooth, explain what we recommend, and provide a written estimate, along with help understanding your coverage.
Does getting a filling hurt?+
We numb the tooth, so the visit is comfortable. Some sensitivity to hot and cold for a day or two afterward is normal and usually fades. If anything lingers, just let us know.
Are tooth-coloured fillings as strong as metal ones?+
Modern composite fillings are strong, durable, and bond directly to your tooth while providing a natural-looking result. For many teeth, they are an excellent choice. They also contain no mercury.
Should I replace my old silver fillings?+
Not necessarily. If an old filling is solid and the tooth is healthy, it is often fine to leave it. If a filling is worn, cracked, or leaking, we will talk through replacing it with a tooth-coloured one. We will never push work you do not need.
How long do fillings last?+
With good care, tooth-coloured fillings often last many years. We check them at your regular visits and let you know if one is starting to wear, so we can sort it out before it becomes a problem.
