Straighter, Healthier Smiles for Every Age
Straightening teeth is about more than looks. When your teeth line up well, they're easier to clean, chew better, and are kinder to your jaw over the years. We help South Surrey and White Rock families choose the approach that fits—whether that means modern braces, clear aligners, or early guidance for a growing child. With a Master's degree in Orthodontics and a deep focus on healthy development, Dr. Hassan provides honest, experienced guidance to help you choose the treatment that's right for you.
Why straighten your teeth?
A bite that doesn't line up properly can wear your teeth unevenly and put extra strain on your jaw, sometimes contributing to headaches, jaw discomfort, and cracked or chipped teeth. Crowded or crooked teeth also trap food more easily and are harder to keep clean, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease.
Straightening your teeth does more than improve your smile. It can make brushing and flossing easier, help your teeth work together more comfortably, and support healthier teeth and gums for years to come.
Your treatment choices
Every smile is different. We'll talk through your goals, your age, and your daily routine, explain the pros and cons of each option, and map out a realistic timeline together before you decide on any treatment.
- Early (interceptive) treatment — gentle guidance for growing children when treatment at the right time can make a big difference.
- Clear aligners (Invisalign) — removable, comfortable, and nearly invisible for many teens and adults.
- Traditional braces — a dependable choice for more complex tooth and bite correction.
- Retainers — help protect your new smile and keep your teeth where they belong.
When should my child have an orthodontic assessment?
Kids and teens are a priority for us. Around age seven is a good time for a first orthodontic assessment—think of it like guiding a young tree while it is still growing. We are not necessarily starting treatment. We are looking for signs of crowding, crossbites, or jaw growth concerns while they are still easier to guide.
Catching these concerns early can often mean shorter, simpler treatment later and, in some cases, help a child avoid having permanent teeth removed.
Why patients choose Power Smile
Early guidance for kids
Catching crowding or bite problems while your child is still growing can make future treatment simpler, shorter, and sometimes help avoid more complex treatment later.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between braces and Invisalign?+
Braces use brackets and wires and are often the best choice for more complex tooth or bite movements. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that are nearly invisible and let you eat, brush, and floss as usual. Both can create excellent results, and after examining your teeth, we'll recommend the option that's best suited to your smile and goals.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost in BC?+
Orthodontic treatment is personalized because every smile is different.
Rather than estimating the cost before understanding your needs, we begin with a thorough orthodontic assessment so we can recommend the treatment that's best for your smile.
During your visit, we'll examine your teeth, take any necessary digital records, explain your treatment options, and provide a written treatment plan and estimate before you decide whether to proceed. If an examination fee applies, we'll let you know before your appointment.
You'll never be asked to agree to treatment without first understanding what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what it will cost. We'll help you understand your insurance coverage, check your CDCP eligibility where applicable, explain payment options if they're available, and make sure you understand every cost before treatment begins.
Still have questions? We'd be happy to explain your treatment options, answer your questions, and help you make an informed decision that's right for your smile.
At what age should my child see someone about braces?+
Around age seven is a good time for your child's first orthodontic assessment. It doesn't mean braces will start right away. It gives us a chance to spot bite or jaw growth concerns early, when they are often easier to guide. Early guidance can sometimes make future treatment shorter, simpler, and help avoid more complex treatment later.
Is it too late for me to straighten my teeth as an adult?+
Not at all. Healthy teeth can be moved at almost any age, and many of our orthodontic patients are adults. Whether you choose braces or clear aligners, treatment can improve both the appearance and function of your smile. Clear aligners are especially popular with adults because they are discreet, removable, and easy to fit into everyday life.
Does orthodontic treatment hurt?+
Most people experience some pressure or tenderness for a few days after braces are adjusted or when they switch to a new set of aligners. This is a normal sign that your teeth are moving. The discomfort is usually mild, settles within a few days, and most people carry on with their normal daily activities. We'll also give you simple tips to help keep you comfortable throughout treatment.
Do I need braces if my teeth are only slightly crooked?+
Not necessarily. Not every crooked tooth needs orthodontic treatment. Some minor alignment differences are mainly cosmetic, while others can affect how your teeth fit together, how easy they are to keep clean, or how evenly they wear over time.
During your orthodontic assessment, we'll examine your teeth, bite, and jaw, discuss your goals, and explain whether treatment is likely to improve your oral health, your smile, or both. If orthodontic treatment isn't likely to provide meaningful benefits, we'll tell you that too.
Our goal is to help you make an informed decision based on what's best for your smile—not to recommend treatment you don't need.
