Cleanings & Checkups That Keep South Surrey Smiles Healthy
Think of a checkup a little like regular car maintenance — a small, steady habit that keeps bigger problems from sneaking up on you. We clean your teeth gently and look at the whole picture, not just one tooth, so we can spot little issues while they are still easy to fix. The goal is simple: keep you healthy and out of the chair down the road.
What a visit looks like
Most checkups have two parts: a cleaning and an exam. Your hygienist clears away the soft plaque and the hard tartar that builds up over time, gives your teeth a polish, and helps you with any spots that are tricky to brush at home. Then Dr. Hassan checks your teeth, gums, bite, and the soft tissue inside your mouth, and takes digital X-rays when they are due.
We'll walk you through what we see using your own photos, digital X-rays, 3D iTero scans, and advanced diagnostic technology. This gives us a clearer picture of your oral health and helps reveal things that may not be visible during a routine examination alone, so nothing feels confusing. If something needs attention, you'll leave understanding your options and what the expected costs will be before any treatment is booked.
Why regular visits matter
Cavities, gum disease, and bite problems are so much easier to handle when they are small.
- Remove tartar that brushing alone can't reach
- Look for cavities, cracks, and early gum disease
- Check older fillings and crowns for wear
- Watch for signs of grinding, dry mouth, or acid wear
- Talk through food and habits that affect your teeth
How often should you come in?
Six months suits many people, but it's not the same for everyone. If you tend to get gum disease, have a dry mouth, or are managing something like diabetes, we may suggest coming in every three or four months instead. We recommend a schedule based on your oral health, not a one-size-fits-all calendar.
Why patients choose Power Smile
Prevention first
Most cavities and gum problems have a reason behind them — what you eat, a dry mouth, the way you brush. We help you find that reason and make small changes that protect your teeth for years.
Gentle, judgement-free
Sensitive teeth, or has it been a long time since your last visit? That is okay. We go slow, tell you what we are doing as we go, and we never lecture.
All insurances & CDCP welcome
We bill most plans directly, and we are happy to accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan and government coverage that some offices turn away.
Whole-family scheduling
We can see parents and kids in the same trip, so one drive in from White Rock or Morgan Creek covers everyone.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a cleaning and checkup cost in BC?+
Our fees follow the BC Dental Association Fee Guide, so what you pay is based on the standard provincial rates rather than a number set by our office. The exact cost depends on how much tartar has built up and which X-rays are due. We'll explain everything and provide an estimate up front, and we bill your insurance or CDCP directly where we can, so you always know what to expect before we begin.
Does a cleaning hurt?+
Most people find cleanings comfortable. If your teeth are sensitive, or it has been a while, just tell us — we can numb the area, work in shorter passes, and take it slow. We would much rather go gently than have you dread your next visit.
Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?+
Yes. We welcome CDCP and other government plans, and we will help you understand what is covered. Many South Surrey and White Rock families come to us because we accept coverage some other offices decline.
How often should my family come in for checkups?+
Six months works well for most people, but we may suggest more frequent cleanings if you tend to get gum disease or cavities. We will set the right timing for each member of your family.
I haven't been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?+
Never. A lot of our patients come in after a long break, often because of a past scare. We meet you where you are, focus first on getting you comfortable, and build a plan at your pace.
